This paper introduces the effects of frequency characteristics of sources, of source types, and of sound field on the identification of noise sources, by analyzing the correlation matrix of a line array. A component of the correlation matrix; (i,j) component, expresses the relation between the pressure signal at i and j, therefore one can expect that it has the information of source strength and phase. The method for identifying the noise sources is basically utilizing what this correlation matrix essentially has, which is in fact translated as finding a vector space which represents noise space or signal space. The applicability of the developed methods on practical situation is demonstrated by the illustrative simulations.-
