dc.description.abstract | The use of multiple sources makes it possible to manipulate sound field of interest. Therefore, we can selectively enhance acoustic variables on a zone where the listener is located. To design the source array can radiate what we want in the zone, this paper presents a method to optimize the acoustic intensity and power of the zone. In order to describe the acoustic intensity of the zone, space-averaged active intensity is introduced as an objective function. The space-averaged intensity is then derived in term of a control signal by utilizing p-p technique. Then the control input of each source that maximizes the space-averaged intensity to a desired direction is studied. The optimal solution is determined by eigenvalue analysis, and the resultant intensity field is interpreted. As an illustrative example, plane wave sources in free field are investigated. The possible zone size and source arrangement are also studied. | - |
