dc.description.abstractA design sensitivity analysis is introduced to the rigid-plastic finite element method for more capability to calculate process parameters such as blank holding force in order to obtain the desired properties at the final stage of forming. A direct differentiation method incorporates with an optimization scheme for direct design procedure in sheet metal forming. The present algorithm has been applied to hemi-spherical cup drawing in order to demonstrate its versatility of optimizing the process parameters.-
