Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee in mobile Internet has more difficult constraints hard to be satisfied than in wired Internet. These constraints are classified into two categories, QoS support and routing problems. Research such as Mobile Resource Reservation Setup Protocol (MRSVP), which intends to overcome those constraints, has focused on solving the problem of changing a routing path caused by the movement of a mobile node and minimizing overheads and delays occurred in those solutions. However, there are still some unsolved problems such as deteriorating the scalability problem of RSVP and providing no way to support movements between two different routing domains. All hosts belonging to a routing domain can communicate with each other directly without passing through a router. In this paper, a new solution is proposed to solve these problems. It is called as Concatenation and Optimization for Reservation Path (CORP) which requires few updates in the current Internet architecture. In CORP, each Base Station (BS) runs a RSVP process on behalf of a Mobile Host (MH) and pre-establishes pseudo reservations to its neighbor BSs in order to prepare MH``s movement. When a MH moves into other wireless cell, a pseudo reservation related to the movement becomes activated and concatenated to an existing RSVP session for guaranteeing continuous QoS support. CORP also dynamically optimizes the extended reservation path to avoid an infinite path extension problem. Because a pseudo reservation is recognized as a normal RSVP session by intermediate routers, no change is required in the current Internet environments and movements between two different routing domains can be supported efficiently. Also a reservation path optimization process in CORP mechanism consumes less network resources because it optimizes an extended path by joining into the existing RSVP session with multicast address rather than establishing a new session. The CORP has been implemented in an e...
