An empirical study on market analysis of optical internet applied services = 광인터넷 응용서비스의 시장분석에 관한 연구

This study explores the possibility of overcoming the excessive network traffic to secure the stability of transmitting limit, and examines the demand of the various multimedia services that depend on the high-speed Internet networking. To achieve these objectives, this study goes through three steps. The first step is to analyze the trend of technical development and market analysis of optical Internet. In technical analysis, after confirmation on the concept and necessity of the optical Internet, we analyzed the optical communication technical trend and a hereafter-technical tendency of present time. Moreover, in order to understand the applied service using optical Internet, we analyzed the present and future market prospects of the high-speed Internet service. The second step is to consider the technical characteristics of optical communication for deriving optical Internet point applied services. The derived applied services become the objects of demand forecast. The applied services were derived from three phase: i) The first thing to do, in order to derive services, is examining the current classification system of the high-speed Internet service through the existing literature. ii) Then, the issue of marketability and technical possibility of the applied services was evaluated by 20 different optical communication-related experts. iii) From this evaluation, six different kinds of services were finally selected: VOD(Movie on Demand), 3D network game, 3D on-line shopping, high-quality Internet broadcast, remote education, and remote medical treatment services. In the third step, the future demand of six main applied services was predicted. The major research methods used in this research is a general survey and derived demand function.
