Today`s economy runs on knowledge and more companies work assiduously to capitalize on knowledge support systems. It has been recognized as core process to create corporate competitive advantage. However, previous approaches to represent knowledge have limits in considering various knowledge types, their relationships and continuity in knowledge formulation. In addition, most of them are concept-oriented or technology-oriented; they lack generic features. The objective of this dissertation is to suggest a comprehensive methodology for capturing knowledge by the use of hypermedia model based on interdisciplinary studies. This hypermedia model can link knowledge to data warehousing system. It also facilitates corporate-level knowledge management and decision support environment. Additionally, this study proposes an adapted data warehouse architecture incorporating hyper-knowledge layer to support the migration of methodology outputs into operational components. Previous methods related to knowledge systematization are first reviewed to set up the theoretical basis for systematic knowledge accumulation. Subjects related to knowledge accumulation range from conceptual level knowledge management (KM) frameworks to physical level data warehousing systems. A supply and demand mechanism is employed for the effective classification and organization for KM literatures. Logical level study includes reviews on conventional hypermedia design methodologies and hypermedia modeling phases. Reviews on physical level data warehousing system remind us that the system consists of six kinds of dynamic flows. The proposed methodology consists of three phases: knowledge elicitation, hypermedia modeling, and system implementation. Knowledge elicitation phase classifies knowledge types and designs knowledge management episodes.
