The deformation and stress distribution in optical fiber connectors with elastomeric ferrules has been investigated for the optimum design with a finite element method. In the investigation, the dimensions of a connector and the material properties of adhesive and a ferrule are altered to examine the effect of design factors for a better design. The analysis also concerns the effect of eccentric loading due to inaccurate alignment of optical fibers.
