In this study, we propose a metamaterial composed of phononic and photonic crystals to enhance acousto-optic interaction. The metamaterial confines acoustic and optical waves with different wavelength scales in a cavity where the two waves strongly interacted with each other. To enhance the interaction further, we investigate the effective material properties of photonic crystals with the aid of quasi-static homogenization theory and modifiy the geometrical constitution of the photonic crystals.-
