As micro/nano-technologies continue to develop and their utilization in various fields increases, the need for analysis of adhesion force that exerts great influence on micro/nano-scale is also increasing. However, previous studies of adhesion are not only unsuitable for calculating adhesion force between rough surfaces that come into contact, but also have limitations in their utilization range and accuracy. In this dissertation, we developed an adhesion model through sequential contact analysis of nano-asperity for the prediction and engineering of adhesion force between rough surfaces. Using the proposed adhesion model, adhesion force for practical use can be calculated, used for contact between various substances, including metallic contact and non-metallic contact. Through experimental verification, we confirm that the proposed adhesive model has an accuracy of less than 13% error rate. It is expected that this model will greatly contribute to the development of micro/nano-technologies that need to use or prevent adhesion.
