JP-8 has been used as a single fuel concept(SFC) in NATO to enhance operational sustainment support(OSS) for ground-maneuver equipment. The implementation of JP-8 in compression ignition(CI) engines need a separate operating environment because of the different fuel properties between diesel and JP-8. The application of JP-8 to a conventional diesel engine also causes a lower power than that with diesel and unacceptable wear, because of the low density and viscosity. In this study, injection strategies were established to improve the performance and emission in a compression ignition engine fueled with JP-8. In conclusion, military vehicles in SFC could have better abilities of OSS with the efficient JP-8 combustion with an AI-based CI engine.
