Driving distance is one of the most important skill to golfers. Considering that aged people enjoy golf more, golf injury also should be treated significantly. In this study, we developed a golf wear which can improve the driving distance and prevent elbow injury (i.e. lateral epicondylitis) based on elastic band and taping. Designing the golf-wear, we had to find out three significant factors: (1) the most effective route for elastic band; (2) the effective and appropriate stiffness of elastic band; (3) the proper compression force for preventing elbow injury. We went through motion capture experiment wearing golf wear and had a comparative study between various stiffness of bands. To find the compression force of elbow band, we experimented with force sensor inside golf-wear and applied the compression force based on the data of literatures. After determining the stiffness and design, we validated the prototype golf-wear by comparing it with conventional wear. 24 subjects participated in this experiment. Consequently, the ball speed, head speed, driving distance all had a significant increase (P < 0.01) in developed golf-wear. The final version of golf wear has manufactured by Kolon sports and it is now on sale in market.
