Recent developments in integrated design in Civil Engineering are outlined by describing how projects can now be informed with engineering knowledge at a conceptual level. The well-defined methods of integrated design are challenged by young engineers and architects. The development of simulation programs has been massive and engineering educational programmes can no longer teach just one design method with its related programs, but must instead give room for a continuous experimental design laboratory.en
