A simple yet effective method is proposed to reduce the power consumption of min-sum based LDPC decoders. By exploiting the characteristics of the min-sum decoding algorithm, the proposed decoding method is to eliminate unnecessary memory accesses, and can be implemented with a few additional hardwares. For a (36420, 32778) QC-LDPC code, the proposed method reduces the power consumption by 12% at maximum.
