One of the major problems limiting the accuracy of piezoelectric transducers fur performing in-cylinder pressure measurements in IC engine is thermal shock. Thermal shock is a condition where the pressure transducer sensitivity is affected by heat transfer from the hot flame. This causes a pressure offset, usually negative, which peaks shortly after TDC and persists at a reduced level throughout the cycle. This study was to derive the formulation of error compensation using the actual pressure data for reducing the errors. The results showed that the thermal shock was corrected quite well with the obtained equation.
