compact hydrogen supplying system is necessary to use fuel cell for mobile electric power applications. Fuel processing is a bridging technology for faster commercialization of fuel cell under scarce hydrogen infrastructure. Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) expected for mobile application is easily poisoned by CO. Mobile fuel processing system for PEMFC must supply hydrogen having low level CO concentration about several tens ppm. Methanol is considered to be a proper fuel for PEMFC At present Cu-based catalysts are used for methanol reforming, but they are deactivated by pyrophoric reaction when exposed to air. In this research precious metals were used for methanol reforming instead of Cu. Composition of reformed gases and reforming conditions are analyzed.
