A possible law of the wall of rotating turbulent shear flow such as a channel in spanwise rotation is investigated. Based on a dimensional analysis and a simple stability theory, functional forms of mixing length in rotating turbulence are derived theoretically for various rates of rotation. Then, a model of mixing length is proposed for the entire rate of rotation and a corresponding law of the wall is obtained for the inner wall region through a numerical integration. The resulting law of the wall is found to show good agreement with both experimental and numerical simulation data. (c) 2005 American Institute of Physics.
