The noise reduction performance of three types of noise barriers was studied in terms of the insertion loss profile and spectrum by using reduced-scale model test in an anechoic chamber and a field test on the Korean high-speed train track. The reduced-scale model test shows that the insertion loss profiles of the plate partition and the cylindrical tube partition barrier are similar, but very different from that of a simple reflective barrier. Frequency spectrum of the insertion loss shows a greater insertion loss at higher frequency and the best noise reduction performance for the cylindrical tube partition barrier. On the field test, the insertion loss of the cylindrical tube partition barrier was 3.3 dB and 1.0 dB greater, on average, than those of the simple barrier and the plate partition barrier, respectively.
