A multipurpose fiber optic access network (MFAN) was proposed. MFAN supported a wide variety of wired and wireless services in the same fiber infrastructure. Passive and active versions of MFAN were implemented. All the potential sources of performance degradation was investigated to ensure the independent operation of various services of MFAN. The network was implemented using three wavelengths separated by more than 20 nm.-
