In this paper, the accurate and complete formulas for the electromagnetic field generated by a vertical magnetic dipole upon the surface of a dielectric-coated spherical conducting earth have been derived. Finally, the computations show that the trapped surface wave can be excited by a magnetic dipole when the thickness of the dielectric layer satisfies the specific conditions.-
