A straightforward synthesis of 4-hydroxy-(E)-2-alkenoic esters mediated by SmI2
Coupling reactions of ketones with propiolate esters in intermolecular manner by SmI2 gave 4-hydroxy-(E)-2-alkenoic esters in THF-t-BuOH at 0 degreesC in moderate to good yields.
