Single-frequency erbium fibre laser using the twisted-mode technique

A single-frequency erbium fibre laser operating at 1.534 mu m is demonstrated. Single frequency operation is achieved using the twisted mode technique. Using a self-heterodyne technique a detector-limited linewidth of 10kHz was measured.
