A spacecraft attitude control ground hardware simulator development is introduced in this paper. The simulator is called KT/KARI HILSSAT(Korea Telecom/Korea Aerospace Research Institute Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulator Single Axis Testbed). The main structure consists of a single axis bearing and a satellite main body model connected to the bearing The single axis simulator as an experimental hardware evaluates performance and applicability of satellite attitude control logic. Some useful experiments on attitude control of spacecraft by using air thrusters and a reaction wheel are presented. Time optimal controllers with dead zone and with PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) are applied to experiments. In particular, performance of PWM as one of the popular spacecraft attitude control technique is evaluated. A proportional-derivative controller for the reaction wheel control is tested producing successful results.
