The partially parabolic Navier-Stokes equations are solved in the streamline coordinates generated for an arbitary airfoil shape using conformal mapping. A modified k- turbulence model is applied in the entire domain. but the eddy viscosity in the laminar region is suppossed artificially to simulate the region correctly. This treatment is found to be very successful in ensuring the smooth transition to the turbulent flow. The procedure has been applied to airfoils at various angles of attack and the results are quite satisfactory. It is shown that the present choice of the coordinate system reduces the numerical error and that the lift is accurately predicted for incidences even past the stall angle.
