Abstract

The title complex, prepared from a reaction of [(IrCp*Cl)2(mu-Cl)2] with K2CrO4 in water. has been characterized via a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. In the solid state the tri-mu-hydroxo-diiridium complex cations. the dichromates having the staggered conformation, and the water molecules of crystallization are entirely connected by hydrogen bonds forming a novel two-dimensional layer structure.
