The effect of replacing nickel with tungsten on the microhardness, electrical resistivity and crystallization temperature in as-melt spun Fe40Ni42B18 amorphous alloys has been investigated by means of microhardness and electrical resistivity measurements. It was observed that the addition of tungsten up to 4 at% resulted in increases of microhardness, electrical resistivity and crystallization temperature. However, when tungsten was added in excess of 4 at%, the crystallization temperature decreased while both microhardness and electrical resistivity were increased further. These experimental observations are briefly discussed.
