Bluetooth is a new wireless technology, which enables devices to form ad hoc networks and is based on a frequency hopping physical layer. Bluetooth technology is commercially used as a replacement for point-to-(multi)point cables. However, multi-hop ad hoc networks over Bluetooth, called a scatternet, are not defined in Bluetooth specification. To form a scatternet, many papers have been published, however, most papers referred only to the scatternet formation scheme. Their schemes do not consider the route(link) failure caused by the mobility and the power limit, important features of mobile wireless devices, which should be considered.
In this paper, we propose the link failure decision and detection scheme in scatternet and the route recovery scheme from the failure. Also, we present link failure decision and detection time, the route recovery time through the simulation.
Through these schemes, wireless mobile devices in scatternet can be communicated with reliability against link failure on the route. This paper can contribute to study and commercialization of scatternet
