dc.description.abstractThe explosive growth of the multimedia streaming and time critical services has raised the development of high-speed transmission and accurate clock synchronization systems in requirement for Local Area Network (WLAN). In the wireless networking require, IEEE802.11n system has emerged as a promising solution which can transmit data packet fast and the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) technology are also considered. Yet, few technologies look promising to achieve the goals of current WLAN to provide an ultimate clock synchronization solution, up to microsecond order, with practical application requirements of performance, cost, and form factor. For resolving the drawbacks, this thesis proposes a novel clock synchronization system by a software based precision time protocol with an outlier cut off algorithm that consists of average and standard deviation filters. The proposed synchronization system can be achieved by several orders of improvement in clock skew compared with original PTP synchronization technique as well as lower overall implementation cost. To verify that the proposed wireless synchronization algorithm can achieve efficient system performance, we perform experiment in the respect of back ground traffic. In conclusion, this thesis presents a structured engineering result for clock synchronization designs that may lead to a paradigm shift toward earlier deployment of clock synchronization networks.eng
