In the ubiquitous computing environment, multi-radio mobile wireless devices can easily make spontaneous network. For mobile devices, energy conservation problem is important and wireless communication via network interface is most significant factor. User applications using wireless network interfaces can have different demands for their own purpose. The problem is how to save energy of mobile wireless devices while satisfying these application demands. One of the efficient approaches to solve this problem is to use network formation based on application demands. But, previous approaches cannot support multi-hop ad hoc network or cannot consider user application demands. In this thesis we propose an energy-efficient multi-hop multi-radio MANET formation scheme based on application demands. Proposed scheme uses soft-state multi-hop signaling protocol, range-aware interface activation and priority-based conflict resolution for energy efficiency. Simulation result shows that proposed scheme can provide energy-efficiency and better throughput result even on the severe high throughput demands situation compared to AODV and hard-state model.
