Interest in broadband QoS guaranteed application is constantly growing among service providers. Some existing and emerging services require a high level of quality and impose great demands on the network. The E2E delay of a packet is major measurement metric of service quality. Especially in case of VoIP and IPTV, it is inevitable needed.
In the thesis, we propose the method which can infer the E2E delay through the results of passive measurement. Passive measurement conquers the limitation of active measurement at the side of scalability. To infer the E2E delay, we analyze the delay components of the RTT at the E2E measurement and Passive measurement. Through the difference two RTT analysis results, we can find the method which can infer the E2E delay from the RTTs of passive measurement using some assumptions about the values and drive techniques to analyze the delay components of passive measurement.
As a result, the inferred values are almost same with real values, the accuracy rates with E2E delay of the proposed method is the almost high and also each delay components between real E2E delay values and inferred E2E delay values by the proposed method, and can confirm that the all delay components have the high accuracy.
