dc.description.abstract | In the cellular radio communication system, several classes of services with different requirements are going to be provided. Main focus of this thesis is in the non-real-time (NRT) service, in which the so called best-effort resource management is applicable. Given an amount of data packets to each NRT mobile user, the problem of minimizing time-span to send all the packets to the base station is investigated. In particular, we elaborate on the problem in the context of DS-CDMA. With the concept of the achievable (average) data rate region, we have derived an exact optimal algorithm that will minimize the time-span, where users transmit data packets through a hybrid of CDMA and TDMA. Numerical results show that by having an optimal scheduling, we can significantly reduce the transmission time-span, and thereby may increase the radio network capacity. | eng |
