The identification of dynamic cutting process is a fundamental problem in machine tool chatter research. Generally, the dynamic cutting process has been represented by the dynamic cutting force coefficients (DCFC``s). In this work, DCFC``s for inner modulation (wave cutting) are measured by exciting the cutting tool with an impact hammer during an orthogonal cutting. The experimentally measured DCFC``s are compared with those by a theoretical model which uses steady state cutting data.
