The constant gain feedback control of flexible system is considered for the case when the feedback signals are obtained from the sensors that are physically near a particular actuator. The necessary condition for the solution of the linear quadratic optimal control subject to the control structure constraints is derived. An algorithm for computing the feedback gain which satisfies the necessary condition is derived and some examples are presented. A numerical example for the optimal output feedback control of a clamped-free flexible beam is illustrated.
