(The) averages of partitions and compositions

Abstract

We introduce and study the averages of partitions and compositions of η with various weights. We compute the average of partitions of η by looking at the weights of partitions in two different ways. We also compute the average of weighted partitions by an asymptotic expansion. Similar approaches are used in the case of compositions of η.
