In the forthcoming mobile computing environments, especially in a mobile database systems, changes should be made to the technologies used in traditional distributed systems. This is because the mobility induces the change of basic assumption imposed by the traditional distributed systems. Checkpointing scheme, as a recovery scheme in a distributed database systems is also subject to be changed to accommodate mobile environments. We propose a group checkpointing scheme, which enhances traditional distributed checkpointing scheme for mobile databases.-
