(An) integrated model for engineering task management

Abstract

Engineering projects require effective project management that controls schedules, quality, and costs. For effective management of engineering projects, engineering tasks and engineering teams or personnel should be coordinated and managed to meet the scheduled delivery, quality requirements, and budget restrictions. While such task management has been recognized as essential for project management, it has not been well addressed in practice. We propose an integrated work data model for effective task management. Coordination of engineering tasks, communications between engineers and managers, and integration of task management and project management should be based on the integrated work data model. We propose a model of project management and engineering task management based on an integrated work data model. The way of developing the integrated work data model is discussed and a design and usage are proposed.
