In this thesis, we present a model to analyze the performance of bulk handoff for mixed traffic in voice/data integrated wireless networks. Based on the proposed model, the handoff performance is analyzed when a reserved channel scheme to give priority to handoff calls and a queueing scheme for data handoff calls are used. It is assumed that cellular mobile communication networks consist of uniform and homogeneous cells and a fixed channel assignment scheme is used to assign channels to each cell. A cell is composed of a normal region and a transition region and is occupied with noncommunicating vehicles without ongoing calls and communicating vehicles with at least one call in progress. A new call originates from a vehicle as a Poisson process and the unencumbered service duration times for two types of calls have an exponential distribution with memoryless property. Here, we assume that voice and data calls have different arrival rates and different duration times. Bulk handoff arrival and bulk handoff departure occur by movement of vehicles independent of types of calls. If voice handoff and data handoff are requested simultaneously, a higher priority is given to voice handoff calls over data handoff calls. In a system without queue, a cell state is expressed with a matrix denoting the numbers of vehicles which are classified depending on the type and number of calls in progress because arrival and departure of bulk handoffs due to movement of vehicles hosting calls have a Poisson distribution. In each state, state transitions are analyzed for new call arrivals, completions of calls in progress, handoff departure, and handoff arrivals of voice/data calls, and a multidimensional Markovian chain is found in equilibrium state. The state probabilities are found from a state equilibrium equation and a boundary condition. A new call blocking probability can be found based on the condition that a new call is blocked when there is no idle channel except for the chan...
