An adaptive control method for linear systems with time-delays in state variables, is proposed. For this, the time-delay system is firstly approximated to a lumped parameter composite system, which is then converted to a discrete-time system by sample-and-hold technique. To this sampled-data system, two discrete adaptive control algorithms by Goodwin et al., and Goodwin and Sin, are applied. To show the usefulness of this design method, some numerical examples are illustrated.
