(A) new image segmentation technique

Abstract

Image segmentation is one of the integral parts in image-based pattern recognition system. In this thesis, a novel image segmentation algorithm based on simple partition mode test of pixels of sliding window is proposed. This simple and systematic one-path algorithm produces very favorable results for highly noisy images as well as relatively noise-free images. A detailed description of the algorithm, and a number of examples demonstrating the utility of the algorithm, are given.
