A coupling through slit structure between rectangular waveguides has been studied. An efficient rigorous solutions for the problem of the electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering occurring at the slit structures on common wall between waveguides is presented. This structure is widely used in waveguide directional coupler. The fourier transform and mode matching hybrid technique has been used to obtain efficient rigorous solutions for the problem of the electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering occurring at the slit structures on the wall between waveguides. This technique is useful when the geometry of the structure is a junction of two or more regions. A problem of coupling through various slit structures between two parallel-plates is examined in chapter 2,3,4 and 5. It is found that our theory is applicable to the analysis and design of a rectangular directional coupler which has coupling elements in its common wide wall. Numerical computations have been performed to illustrate the behaviour of reflection and transmission in terms of the slit geometry and frequency. The reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained in numerically-efficient, fast-convergent series. Our theoretical results has been applied to design a 3-dB multi-slit coupler. In chapter 6, solution for a problem of coupling through a slit in between two rectangular waveguides has been formulated by using the technique of Fourier transform and mode matching. The Fourier transform and mode matching yields a closed-form solution in fast-convergent series, which is efficient for numerical computation.eng
