dc.description.abstractThis dissertation presents and verifies a fast and accurate modeling and investigation approach of the eye-diagram distortion and the DDJ estimation in the single and differential meander delay lines. Crosstalk induced in a single/differential meander delay line produces a significant amount of waveform distortion and DDJ at the output port. This research introduces an interpretation of the eye-diagram distortion and the DDJ generation mechanism based on Time-domain Multi-mode Crosstalk Analysis of coupled multi-conductors including the multi differential pairs. From the proposed Time-domain Multi-mode Crosstalk Analysis, this research proposes DDJ analysis and modeling for both short unit line delay case and long unit line delay case and proposes the DDJ estimation equation for the long unit line delay case. The eye-diagram distortion and the DDJ are predicted and estimated, respectively. In order to verify the DDJ estimation equation, a series of microstrip type Printed Circuit Board (PCB) test vehicles with the single/differential meander delay lines are fabricated and tested. The measured DDJ shows good agreement with the estimated one using the proposed DDJ estimation equation.eng
