Conventional orthogonal code division multiplexing (OCDM) can be code-limited in some conditions. To resolve the code-limited case, new statistical multiplexing scheme, orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM), including performance improvement methods are proposed for orthogonal downlink. Analytical result shows that the proposed statistical multiplexing scheme can overcome the code limit. As a generalized version of OCHM, multi-dimensional orthogonal resource hopping multiplexing (MD-ORHM) is also proposed and evaluated. The conventional OCDM and ORDM are special cases of OCHM and MD-ORHM, respectively. Several performance improvement schemes are also proposed. By using the proposed schemes, the worst performance of OCHM and MD-ORHM can be better than that of the conventional OCDM and ORDM. In case of systematic channel coding, better performance than the original ones can be achieved by a little sacrifice of statistical multiplexing gain.
