The floppy disk, random access storage, is used in many microprocessor application systems requiring high speed I/O and mass storage medium. Thesis studies the floppy disk system in which multi-processor can access the same disk drive. In this thesis a multi-processor accessible floppy disk system(MDCS) is designed and implemented. MDCS is a package of hardware and software integration. Its hardware consists of an 8085 based microprocessor, 4K bytes of EPROM, 1K bytes of RAM, and all support logic to control disk drive units with DMA capability. Software of MDCS is essentially a monitor. Some of the functions of the monitor are ; write a sector, read a sector, check read a sector, format a track, write a Deleted Data Address Mark, read all, and head positioning functions.
