dc.description.abstractThis dissertation encompasses two individual research subjects. The first subject explores the correlation between folding propensity of foldamer and properties of multiscale architecture. To investigate this, three distinct α/β-residue pattern foldamers were prepared and analyzed by several characterization containing crystal structure determination, spectroscopic analyses, and computer simulation. Additionally, the assembly process of those foldamers macroscopic architectures were studied, providing insight how the folding propensity influences the physicochemical properties of those architectures. Those case studies are anticipated to contribute to broadening the perspective on understanding molecular assembly The second chapter demonstrates structure determination of nanocrystals of metal-biomolecules using microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED). The final refinement result exhibited good re-finement statistics comparable to those obtained by conventional X-ray diffraction method. Fur-thermore, the absolute configuration of the metal-biomolecule complex could be determined by MicoED. The successful application of MicroED for structure determination presents a promising and efficient method for solving the structure of nanocrystals composed of biomolecules.-
