Telepresence by its definition is a technique which provides realistic vision of the objects or people far away. The ideal telepresence system gives the user feeling as if they share the same space with the corresponding object or person. Even though the development state of the present techniques is far from its commercialization, this technique is very familiar to us due to its frequent appearance in various science fiction cultural contents. More than it is aesthetically pleasing, telepresence technique has various potential applications in military, industry and medical fields. However, reported techniques regarding telepresence so far rely on complicated hardwares and rendering algorithms. In this thesis, we propose all-holographic telepresence system by exploiting speckle-based holographic imaging. By exploiting holography in both imaging and display part of this 3D streaming system, we realized all-holographic telepresence system for the first time. The all-holographic method allows us to eliminate time-consuming computer generated holography (CGH) calculation steps. For the real-time optimization of field reconstruction procedure, we adopted various gradient descent (GD) algorithms. With the proposed setup and optimized algorithm, we were able to conduct live 3D streaming of dynamic objects successfully. We envision that our study will provide a vital guideline for implementing all-holographic telepresence system and further maximize its distinct advantage in streaming speed and image quality
