Synthesis of vinyl sulfones and α-sulfenyl sulfones

Abstract

The reaction of dianion of ethyl phenyl sulfone with diethyl phosphorochloridate gave 1-sulfonylethyl phosphonate quantitatively. The successive one-pot reaction with aldehyde resulted in vinyl sulfones which have (E)-configuration exclusively in good yields. $\alpha$-Sulfenyl sulfones were obtained from the reaction of the anion of alkyl phenyl sulfones with disulfide in good yields.
