This research presents the development of an advanced electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) system, focused on enhancing battery safety diagnostics. Conventional EIS systems, although effective in offering chemical insights of batteries through impedance measurement across frequencies, face challenges in accuracy, measurement time, and device size, hindering their integration into EVs. This study introduces a novel EIS system incorporating two innovative approaches: the uniform time interval–uniform period repetition (UTI-UPR) balanced perturbation method and a modified continuous wavelet transform (CWT)-based impedance extraction algorithm. A prototype of this system, including both analog and digital components, was developed and validated through PCB-level implementation. This research demonstrates that the proposed EIS system effectively overcomes the limitations of conventional methods by offering a balanced approach to accuracy and measurement time, while maintaining a compact device size suitable for integration into EV systems.
