This paper proposed an Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) system consisting of a 2-tap double sampling DFE and a pre-1-tap delay equalization, to compensate for 25Gb/s data that distorted due to dispersion and Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) transmitted through up to 40km optical fiber. The proposed pre-1-tap delay equalization used a power divider and a delay line to divide the input data into 2 different paths and in one of the paths, add a delay line to give 1UI delay to make the future 1-bit data arrive at the output on the same time with the current 1-bit data, and then add the 2 bits data together by defined coefficients to eliminate ISI. The final result shows that the proposed EDC has a better BER performance than the previous 1-tap double sampling DFE especially for long-distance transmission and the reach distance was extended from 30km to 40km for 25Gb/s data transmission.
