This paper proposes a wireless power and data transfer system IC based on frequency splitting with sufficient and efficient power delivery and high data rate telemetry. The proposed structure converts frequency-modulated signal to amplitude-modulated signal through injection-locked ring oscillator, which can achieve advantages of both modulation methods. The power and data is transmitted with frequency shift keying which can deliver constant and continuous power. In addition, the clock recovery is performed from the demodulated data rather than the frequency-modulated carrier, so that the clock and data recovery can be achieved despite the use of frequency shift keying. The proposed IC is designed to deliver 102.5-mW power and 2.5-Mb/s data simultaneously over a single 6.78-MHz inductive link.
