We developed a centrifugal microdevice for real-time identification of three food poisoning bacteria from real food samples. The use of the recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) method and direct PCR buffer eliminates the sample pretreatment step. The entire analysis processes including aliquoting of samples and reagents, target amplification, and real time detection were conducted with a portable rotary genetic analyzer within 30 minutes. The proposed centrifugal microdevice platform provides a rapid and miniaturized point-of-care diagnostic tool for on-site food poisoning bacteria detection.
