This paper discusses the interconnect in the baseband processor, which is responsible for processing the physical layer in 5G wireless communication base stations. With the development of wireless communication technology from LTE to 5G, the throughput and system size required for baseband processors are rapidly increasing. Due to this increasing trend of systems, the crossbar structure with low scalability that was previously used has become difficult to use anymore. In addition, a baseband processor is a high heterogeneity system because the physical layout size of cores is different up to 11x. So, it is difficult to use well-known interconnect such as Mesh, Butterfly, and Fattree. This paper presents a one-side distributed crossbar (ODC) with a layout-friendly structure by removing the allocator of the crossbar using wires and demux to ensure scalability and distributing the input ports gathered in the center to surround the output ports.
